One of CenterPoint's energy rebate programs includes commercial and industrial steam traps. Customers should consider auditing their steam distribution systems to improve energy efficiency in buildings, as poorly maintained systems waste a considerable amount of energy.
CenterPoint Energy offers a Steam Trap Audit Program to assist in recovering some of this energy. A failure of a steam trap can result in a spike in the natural gas consumption of your buildings. An audit can help identify steam traps that need repair or replacement and provide suggestions on preventing a potential disaster. In addition, with CenterPoint's Custom Rebate Program, you can enjoy the quick payback of your energy investment through the combination of qualifying equipment rebates and eligible audit rebates. According to the CenterPoint Energy website, this is how the Steam Trap Audit program works and what the qualifying equipment is:
- Customers are eligible to participate in the program every other year.
- It is available for heating and process customers.
- The program will pay for a steam trap audit at a rate of $15/tested trap, up to 100% of the audit's cost, upon repair of all failed steam traps.
- Only float and thermostatic (F&T), bucket, and thermostatic type steam traps qualify for a rebate.
- Steam trap repair or replacement can qualify for a rebate amount of 35% of the repaired/replaced equipment cost.
More information on the Steam Trap Audit Program and qualifying equipment can be found on the CenterPoint Energy website.
