Bell & Gossett Pressure Reducing Valves
Bell & Gossett pressure reducing valves fill the system to a preset pressure for optimum performance. Lead-free brass is the standard body material for B&G Pressure Reducing Valves. Highly resistant to corrosion, lead-free brass is recognized as the material of choice for water systems.
The unique low inlet pressure check valve on Bell & Gossett Pressure Reducing Valves is also standard. This check valve helps prevent system pressure loss if the supply water pressure drops below the system pressure. A simple yet highly effective device, the low inlet pressure check valve is less affected by dirt than ball and flapper type checks.
During regular operation, the valve seat opens because of low system pressure, and water flows through the valve seat. This water must first pass under the check valve's flexible sealing lips to enter the system. In case of low city water pressure, the pressure on the inside of the check valve (the city water side) would be less than the pressure on the outside (the system water side). This outside pressure then forces the lips of the check valve against the main diaphragm preventing the flow of water from the system.
B&G Pressure Reducing valves are also available with a fast-fill feature and/or a union connection. In addition, some models come standard with a manual fast-fill feature that facilitates the fast filling of a hydronic system—a real-time saver for that initial fill or when a substantial amount of water must be added to the system.
Bell & Gossett offers an optional body configuration for their pressure-reducing valves that feature a union nut and universal tailpiece. The tailpiece has a 1/2" male NPT thread and a 1/2" female sweat connection.
All Bell & Gossett Reducing Valves feature a cleanable strainer to prevent dirt and sediment from entering the valve, which is readily accessible at the bottom of the valve.

Bell & Gossett Pressure Reducing Valve Models
B7-12 Reducing Valve
This low-pressure reducing valve features a low inlet pressure check valve and a removable strainer. It is suitable for use in buildings with a maximum of three floors.
Nos. B-38, FB-38, B-38TU, & FB-38TU
These low-pressure reducing valves feature a low inlet pressure check valve and removable strainer. Models with an “F” prefix have the fast-fill feature. While models ending with “TU” feature a 1/2" sweat/NPT union.
Nos. 6 & 7 High Pressure Reducing Valves
These valves protect plumbing fixtures against excessive line pressures by being fitted with a removable strainer, low inlet pressure check valve, and extra large diaphragm. All their wetted parts are lead-free brass. They are factory adjusted to deliver 45 psi (3.1 bar) with 125 psi (8.6 bar) to the valve.

Bell & Gossett Nos. 8, F-3 & F-3TU Dual Unit Pressure Reducing Valves
B&G Dual Unit Valves combine functions of both reducing and relief valves. A pressure-reducing valve is coupled with a non-code relief valve, providing fill overpressure protection and the fill function.
The pressure-reducing valve features a lead-free brass body, corrosion-resistant wetted parts, a low inlet pressure check valve, and a cleanable strainer. The non-code relief valve features a corrosion-resistant seat and a large diaphragm for positive action. Units are available with lead-free brass relief valve bodies.
B&G Dual Unit Valves combine the functions of reducing and relief valves. Models with an “F” prefix feature fast-fill. While models ending with “TU” feature a 1/2" sweat/NPT union.
Please note: The non-code relief valve cannot be used alone to protect the system. An ASME-type safety relief valve must also be installed on the system for output overpressure protection.
