Bell & Gossett Tank Fittings/Valves

Tank fittings and valves are connection and control components used to support expansion tank installation, isolation, and system integration in hydronic heating and cooling applications. Their application-specific design helps manage tank connection points, service access, and fluid control, making them important where proper assembly fit, dependable pressure-side performance, and reliable long-term system operation are needed.

Bell & Gossett Tank Fittings/Valves

Bell & Gossett Airtrol Tank Fittings

Bell & Gossett Airtrol tank fittings are designed to help establish the correct initial liquid level in a compression tank when filling a hydronic system. They also support proper system pressurization by directing released air to the compression tank during operation.

As the system liquid cools during the boiler off-cycle, Airtrol fittings allow cooler liquid to flow back to the boiler, helping support stable system operation. For proper performance, Airtrol tank fittings should be used with the correct size Airtrol Boiler Fitting, In-Line Airtrol, or Rolairtrol air separator.

Airtrol Tank Fitting Features

  • Helps establish the proper initial liquid level in a compression tank
  • Supports adequate system pressurization
  • Directs released air to the compression tank during system operation
  • Allows cooler liquid flow to the boiler during off-cycle cooling
  • Designed for use with properly sized Airtrol Boiler Fittings, In-Line Airtrol units, or
  • Rolairtrol air separators
  • Cast iron body construction
  • Copper and copper-plated tubes
  • Brass vent tube fitting
  • Stainless steel ball check on ATFL models only
  • Bell & Gossett Copper Red Ring Monoflo Fittings

Bell & Gossett Monoflo Tank Fittings

Bell & Gossett Copper Red Ring Monoflo fittings are designed for single-pipe hydronic heating systems, allowing one pipe to serve as both the supply and return main. These fittings connect risers to the main and help direct the proper amount of water to each heating unit, regardless of the unit type or its position in the system.

Copper Red Ring Monoflo fittings are recommended for many common heating installations, including cast iron radiation, non-ferrous baseboards, free-standing radiation, and connector applications. In most up-feed radiation systems, one fitting is typically enough to provide proper flow diversion. A second fitting may be used when higher resistance is required.

Monoflo Fitting Features

  • Allows one pipe to function as both supply and return main
  • Helps provide proper water distribution to each heating unit
  • Connects risers to the main piping
  • Suitable for single-pipe hydronic heating systems
  • Recommended for cast iron radiation, non-ferrous baseboards, free-standing radiation, and connector applications
  • One fitting is usually sufficient for up-feed radiation
  • A second fitting may be used when additional resistance is needed

Expansion Tanks vs. Buffer Tanks

Published: Feb 28, 2023 By: Laura Eck

An expansion tank allows for the expansion and contraction of a system when it heats up and cools off and provides head pressure for the circulation pump. A buffer tank adds volume to a heating or ...
