Taco Bladder Expansion Tanks for Hydronic Systems, Hydro-Pneumatic Applications, and Commercial HVAC Pressure Control
Taco bladder expansion tanks are designed to help control system pressure by permanently separating the air charge from the system fluid. Used in hydronic heating, chilled water, hydro-pneumatic, drawdown, and commercial HVAC applications, these tanks help manage thermal expansion, maintain system stability, and protect pumps, boilers, piping, and connected equipment.
The Taco bladder tank product line includes CBX Series, PAX Series, and CA Series expansion tanks. CBX Series tanks are bladder-type expansion tanks designed for hydronic systems, hydro-pneumatic applications, and drawdown service. They feature a removable heavy-duty butyl rubber bladder, fabricated steel shell, and factory pre-charge based on job requirements. Standard bladder models are rated for 125 PSIG, with optional bladder configurations available up to 150 PSIG.
Taco CA Series expansion tanks are designed to eliminate direct air-to-water contact inside the tank by using a butyl rubber bladder to separate the air charge from the system fluid. This design helps reduce air absorption into the water, which can contribute to corrosion, inefficient balancing, pump cavitation, air-bound terminal units, and waterlogged tanks. In many properly sized CA systems, tank size may be reduced compared to older plain steel tank designs.
Both Taco CBX and CA Series expansion tanks are designed, constructed, and tested to ASME Section VIII, Division 1 requirements. Taco also uses computerized product selection and in-house fabrication to help match each tank to the application requirements and support consistent manufacturing quality.
