This Taco 4900 Series Commercial Air Separator, Model 4902AHT, is designed to remove air and other gas from hydronic heating and cooling systems. It features a high velocity, 2" threaded connection and can withstand pressures up to 125 psi. The air separator works by utilizing centrifugal force to separate the air from the water within the system. As water enters the separator, it is forced into a rapidly spinning chamber where the heavier water molecules are flung to the outer edge and the lighter air molecules are drawn towards the center. The separated air is then vented out of the system through an automatic float vent while the water continues on its path through the hydronic system. This product is ideal for use in commercial buildings with large heating or cooling systems that require efficient and reliable air removal.
4900 Series Overview
Taco 4900 Series Commercial Air & Dirt Separators efficiently remove air, dirt, and other contaminants from system components, enhancing efficiency and longevity. They use patented PALL ring technology to eliminate micro-bubbles and debris, while an optional magnet collects iron oxide and magnetite.
These separators also feature a vent mechanism for releasing merged micro-bubbles and a blowdown valve to dispose of dirt. The magnet, easily activated by a handle, simplifies maintenance and magnetite removal. They are suitable for systems with variable speed and constant flow.
Taco 4900 Series separators are constructed and tested to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 standards. Their design is guided by computerized selection, tailored for each application. All manufacturing occurs in-house, ensuring quality. Independent third-party tests validate performance.
