HVAC Contractors Navigate Shortages and Supply Chain Delays offers reasoning and strategy to navigate the HVAC market. The COVID-19 pandemic shut down many manufacturing plants; however, the need for products didn't decrease. This led to a national parts shortage and created supply chain issues for all industries. Chris Czarnecki, ACCA government relations representative and coalitions manager said, "We’ve heard from contractors across the country that are having inventory challenges, especially when it comes to refrigerants as well as finding parts and equipment. Unfortunately, this issue isn’t restricted to just the HVACR industry, as it seems supply chain constraints have touched every corner of the American economy."

HVAC parts that were in stock before COVID-19 can now have a 6 week lead time. Understanding these shortages in supply chain is important because product delays lead to increased downtime and wasted money. To combat this, it is recommended to determine the parts you've used in the past and forecast what is needed to get you through the next year.
If the product breaks and you don't have the part to fix it the next step is to reach out to a supplier. However, these suppliers are having a hard time getting the parts as well. Tim Fisher, team leader of Market Intelligence at HARDI (Heating, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Distributors International) explains what to tell your customers, "You need to make sure they understand that this is not just your company, but that it is something your competitors are dealing with as well."
