Variable Speed ECM Circulation with Temperature Sensing and Multiple Control Modes

The Taco VT2218 ECM High-Efficiency Circulator is a temperature-sensing, self-adjusting, variable speed wet rotor circulator designed for efficient hydronic system performance. Built with an ECM permanent magnet motor, the VT2218 can use significantly less electricity than a standard circulator while helping improve comfort, system control, and boiler performance.

The VT2218 is ideal for Delta-T and setpoint temperature applications where the circulator needs to respond to changing system conditions. It is commonly used in hydronic systems with zone valves, radiant heating loops, injection pumping, snowmelt systems, and hydro-air fan coils. It can also operate in constant speed mode for systems using circulator zoning, indirect water heaters, or primary boiler loops.

With multiple operating modes, the VT2218 gives installers and system designers flexibility for different hydronic layouts. Control options include Delta-T differential temperature, four fixed speeds, setpoint heat, setpoint cool, and boiler protection. A full-speed override supports system filling and purging, while the backlit LCD display provides operating mode, temperature or speed setting, watts, GPM, supply and return temperatures, diagnostics, and English or metric units.

Taco’s SureStart® feature helps reduce callbacks by automatically purging air and unblocking the pump to support trouble-free operation. With quiet operation, ECM efficiency, and smart temperature-based control, the VT2218 is a strong solution for modern residential and light commercial hydronic systems.
