This Taco 4900 Series Commercial Air Separator, Model 4902AHR, is a high velocity device that removes air and other gas from hydronic heating and cooling systems. It features a removable top cover for easy maintenance and cleaning, as well as a 2" flanged connection that allows for easy installation. With a maximum working pressure of 150 psi, this air separator can handle the demands of commercial applications. The device works by separating air and other gases from the system fluid through centrifugal force, which is created by the high velocity of the fluid entering the separator. As the fluid enters the separator, it is directed in a spiral motion around a cylindrical chamber. The centrifugal force causes any entrained air or gas to be separated from the fluid and collected in an upper chamber that can be vented manually or automatically. This process helps to improve system efficiency and prevent damage caused by air pockets in the system.
4900 Series Overview
Taco 4900 Series Commercial Air & Dirt Separators efficiently remove air, dirt, and other contaminants from system components, enhancing efficiency and longevity. They use patented PALL ring technology to eliminate micro-bubbles and debris, while an optional magnet collects iron oxide and magnetite.
These separators also feature a vent mechanism for releasing merged micro-bubbles and a blowdown valve to dispose of dirt. The magnet, easily activated by a handle, simplifies maintenance and magnetite removal. They are suitable for systems with variable speed and constant flow.
Taco 4900 Series separators are constructed and tested to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 standards. Their design is guided by computerized selection, tailored for each application. All manufacturing occurs in-house, ensuring quality. Independent third-party tests validate performance.
