Grundfos ALPHA2 High Efficiency ECM Variable Speed Circulator Pumps for Hydronic Heating, Cooling, and Hot Water Recirculation
Grundfos ALPHA2 High Efficiency ECM Variable Speed Circulator Pumps are electronically controlled circulators designed for hydronic heating, cooling, air-conditioning, and compatible hot water recirculation applications. Combining an electronically commutated motor (ECM), variable-speed operation, and intelligent pressure control, ALPHA2 circulators provide an energy-efficient alternative to traditional fixed-speed circulator pumps.
A major advantage of the Grundfos ALPHA2 is its ability to automatically regulate differential pressure according to actual system demand without requiring external control components. As zone valves or thermostatic radiator valves open and close, the circulator can adjust its speed and performance rather than continuing to operate along a fixed-speed pump curve. This helps maintain appropriate circulation while reducing unnecessary electrical consumption.
The ALPHA2 provides three defined proportional-pressure settings and three constant-pressure settings, along with proportional-pressure AUTOADAPT and constant-pressure AUTOADAPT. Constant-pressure control is particularly useful for systems such as radiant floor heating and zone-valve applications, while proportional-pressure operation is well suited to two-pipe radiator systems with thermostatic radiator valves.
The ALPHA2 is also designed for reliability in real-world hydronic systems. Grundfos incorporates magnetite-resistant construction to help protect against iron oxide commonly found in heating systems, along with high starting torque to help clear debris and sediment. Warning and alarm indicators provide additional pump and system protection, while push-button controls and LED indicators simplify setup and troubleshooting.
